Professor Han Ki-soon
Han Ki-soon, head of the Center for Science and Culture in Incheon (Professor of the Department of Creative Human Resources Development at Incheon National University), was elected as the next chairman at the "2024 National Council of Regional Science and Culture Base Centers."
The conference was held in conjunction with the "2024 Science and Technology Culture Conference" held at the Korea Science and Technology Center from December 16 (Mon) to 17 (Tue), and was hosted and organized by the Ministry of Science and ICT (Minister Yoo Sang-im) and the Korea Science and Creativity Foundation (Chairman Jung Woo-sung). The council, an association of 12 regional science and culture centers across the country, had time to discuss the direction of major projects in 2025 and elect the chairman of the national council.
Major events included meetings between Jung Woo-sung, chairman of the Korea Science and Creativity Foundation, and heads of each regional center, networking activities between the center and local government officials, and sharing the results of local science and culture projects.
Han Ki-soon, head of the Center for Science and Culture in Incheon, said, "We will closely strengthen cooperation between regions and link science and culture projects, and run a council where the subjects and officials of science and culture can also participate happily."
With this election, the Center for Science and Culture in Incheon plans to lead the cooperation of 12 base centers nationwide and lead the development direction of regional science and culture capacity building projects in 2025.
Center for Science and Culture in Incheon has been operating at Incheon National University's Science and Gifted Education Institute (www.inuisge.kr ) since 2021, and has implemented various programs to spread science and culture in the local community and bridge the educational gap. In 2024, it has established itself as a regional science and culture hub used by 170,000 Incheon citizens annually by conducting cooperation projects with 90 local organizations.
Center for Science and Culture in Incheon's program is funded by the Science and Technology Promotion Fund and the Lottery Fund, and is supported by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Science and Creativity Foundation, contributing to the development of science and technology in Korea and the promotion of welfare for the low-income and underprivileged.
